Welsh Water have today announced a significant increase to charges for customers, starting in April 2023.
Welsh Water, also known as Dwr Cymru, said that “most of its household customers will see an increase in their typical combined water and wastewater bills of between 8% and 9.4% from April.”
They added that this was “due to the significant increase in the rate of inflation which is running at a 40 year high”.
According to the BBC, this will bring the “average bill to £499 a year - the second highest in Wales and England.”
James said:
“This is a significant increase to costs for consumers, which comes at a time when many people are facing difficult financial situations.
“These new costs will be among the highest in England and Wales, which is a kick in the teeth for consumers.
“The people of Mid Wales deserve better than this.”
