James Evans MS & Fay Jones MP, Members of the Welsh and Westminster Parliament

On the 23rd and 24th of August, residents of Llandrindod Wells and Ystradgynlais were invited to attend a cost-of-living fair which is intended to help provide advice and support to those who may struggle with rising food and energy bills this winter. With the war in Ukraine unlikely to come to an end any time soon, the situation across Europe remains incredibly volatile and support for all families, from all backgrounds is crucial if we are to avoid situations experienced by many in 2022.

Commenting on the event, James Evans said.

“Working in collaboration with numerous different agencies such as Welsh Water, Age Cymru, Mind and HSBC, I’m pleased that this month, residents in Brecon & Radnorshire were given the opportunity to seek advice and help from some of the providers they may use on a daily basis. We know that last winter, constituents struggled in the face of an unexpected cost of living crisis fuelled by the war in Ukraine.”

James Evans MS goes on to say.

“Having a warm, dry place to live, nutritious food, fair work and a sense of security are fundamental building blocks for a healthy life however like many other countries across Europe, much of this has been thrown off kilter, hitting some of our most vulnerable in society. Both Fay and I are committed to making sure that we can help ease the potential strain ahead of this winter by doing what we can to give people the information they need and put them in contact with the necessary people who can be a first point of call should they need additional support.

I would like to thank everyone who attended and encourage those to reach out my office should they need any further support or guidance. To represent the people of Brecon & Radnorshire continues to be an absolute privilidege and I'm committed to fighting for every corner of our community.
