Senedd Cymru/Welsh Parliament

Today in the Senedd, Welsh Labour voted for a motion which criticised their own roads review.

The review cancelled all major roadbuilding projects and safety schemes, including on the A470 at Pontybat.

The motion was introduced by the Welsh Conservatives, who have criticised Labour’s road policy for being anti-growth, anti-business and anti-worker.

Previously, the review was criticised by former Welsh Labour Ministers including Ken Skates MS, who said the review “ignores citizens” and called the Labour Government’s decision a “diktat”.

James said:

“It’s quite staggering that Labour have voted against their own roads review, which they were championing only last month.

“It’s obvious to everyone that the Labour Welsh Government’s road policy is disastrous for economic prosperity.

“Mid Wales urgently needs roads to be built, coupled with serious investment in public transport – which Labour are slashing as we speak.”
