Labour’s Budget is a £40billion Tax Grab

James Evans MS has commented on today’s budget announcement by saying:

“This is a tax raid of £40billion and an attack on small and medium businesses.  It is these businesses that will have to find the money to pay for the increased national minimum wage, the increased national insurance contributions, at a time when many businesses are struggling to make a profit.

"Labour say they are not taxing workers – but these businesses will either have to put up prices or cut back of staff – how on earth does the Chancellor think this will not impact all of us.  Hospitality businesses will be some of the hardest hit and local businesses tell me this budget will push them over the cliff edge.

The changes to Inheritance Tax relief for agriculture is huge for our area.  It does not have to be a large farm to get over the £1million threshold.  Rachel Reeves said she wants to protect small family farms but this policy does just the opposite and I fear today’s announcement could spell the end of the family farm.
