Lloyds in Brecon Town Centre

Responding to the news that Lloyds Bank will be closing their Brecon branch early next year, James Evans, MS for Brecon and Radnorshire, said:

“I am bitterly disappointed to learn that the Lloyds Banking Group will close their Brecon branch in February 2025. After losing HSBC and Barclays in the last 18 months, this decision is yet another blow to Brecon town and the residents who use the bank.

“Many elderly customers and vulnerable adults do not have access to online banking and rely heavily on the branch. I am also concerned about the number of businesses in the area who take cash and need a physical bank branch for transactions. I will be working closely with Lloyds Bank to ensure customers are supported up to and beyond the closure date.

“Continued access to cash is vital, and I will be working with LINK to ensure that the current ATM cashpoint in the Lloyds Bank building is relocated elsewhere in the town, just as I have in other towns such as Presteigne.

“I will be holding a public meeting to discuss this at the Castle Hotel in Brecon on Thursday 3rd October at 7pm. Representatives from Lloyds Bank have been invited to attend.”
