Following the announcement by Lloyds Banking group that they intend to close their Presteigne branch in March 2025, James Evans MS is due to meet with Lloyds’ representatives to discuss what arrangements are being made for customers that cannot access online banking or travel to their nearest branch.

James Evans MS said:

“It is bitterly disappointing to hear of yet another bank closing in Brecon & Radnorshire.  We now have no banks in many of our towns and only a very limited presence in Brecon and Llandrindod Wells.  It is vitally important that access for cash via ATM is maintained in Presteigne and I will be calling for such.”

“The Banking Hubs initiative with Link is a great idea but the reality has been a very slow rollout, and many towns such as Builth Wells are not meeting the official criteria.  At the very minimum we need to have access to cash machines in each of our major towns in Brecon & Radnorshire.”
