James Evans MS at the event

James Evans took part in an event focused on tackling loneliness and mental health issues at this week’s Conservative Party conference in Birmingham.

The discussion focused on topics including the pressures of social media on young people and the lasting impact of the lengthy pandemic restrictions in Wales.

The event was run by Manchester University and James was joined by a range of experts including Professor Pamela Qualter of the University’s Education department.

James said:

“It’s important to take part in events like this so we can find solutions to issues around loneliness and mental health.

“There is a lot that Governments can do to tackle loneliness, including ensuring funding reaches organisations who do good work in this area instead of increasing health bureaucracy.

“I want to see more long-term planning for mental health funding, which would provide security for mental health groups and the people that rely on them.”
