In a recent ITV Sharp End interview, the Plaid Cymru MP called James Evans ‘delusional’ and ‘childish’ when he called the recent EU agreement a betrayal of the people’s Brexit vote. Following on from this, in a BBC Walescast with Alun Davies MS, Alun repeatedly accused James of spreading ‘lies’ throughout the broadcast.
In a recent exchange in the House of Commons, the Prime Minister Keir Starmer said Liz Saville-Roberts MP was talking “rubbish”, a comment for which he later apologised.
James Evans MS for Brecon & Radnorshire said:
“Liz Saville-Roberts MP in this interview called me ‘delusional’ and ‘childish’, when sticking up for the millions of people in the UK that voted for Brexit in 2016. I think the MP for Dwyfor Meirionnydd should consider the language used and follow the Prime Minister’s example in issuing an apology to me. Labour’s Alun Davies MS could not respond to my reasoned arguments in the broadcast, instead choosing to repeatedly accuse me of ‘lying’ instead of coming up with answers.
“Liz Saville-Roberts MP claims that Plaid Cymru are different is simply wrong. She did not like my reply back pointing out that Plaid Cymru kept Labour in power, part of the ‘coalition agreement’, taking Ministerial positions until one year before the General Election where it was politically convenient to ditch the arrangement.
"Plaid Cymru, Labour and the Lib Dems should respect the referendum vote instead of ignoring the will of the people and moving us closer and closer to Europe."
