James Evans MS in the Welsh Parliament

In a Senedd debate held by the Welsh Conservatives, James Evans MS repeated his calls for the Wales Air Ambulance to remain at its current base in Welshpool.

There have been moves to shut that base and relocate to North Wales, and Evans, along with colleagues such as Russell George MS, called on the Welsh Government to do everything it can with partners to secure the future of the Air Ambulance in Mid Wales.

Evans has been campaigning for the retention of the Air Ambulance base, including recently speaking at a public meeting in Knighton.

James said:

“The Air Ambulance is essential to the people of Mid Wales. As a rural area, we don't have many of the things that people in more densely populated parts of Wales take for granted, we don't have the services that other parts of Wales rely on.

“As a result, services like the Wales Air Ambulance take on an even greater role. It's literally a lifesaver for many people in Brecon & Radnorshire and beyond. Shutting the Welshpool base will reduce the ability of the Air Ambulance to fulfil its role in our area.

“I'm proud to campaign for the retention of the base in Welshpool alongside my Welsh Conservative colleagues and others. I repeat my call for the Welsh Government and its partners to do everything they can to make sure the base stays in Welshpool and for them to stand up for the people of Mid Wales.”
